CONTEMPLATIVE-BASED THERAPY for TRAUMA ©

C.B.T.T. is a 3 month support and skill-based group, developed by Judith Prebluda M.A, L.M.H.C. It is grounded in the research of Zindel Segal, Ph. D. (Mindfulness) and Daniel Siegel Ph. D. (Neuroscience/Relational attachment). This model is an integration of the work of Jon Kabat Zinn, Marsha Linehan, Deborah Rozelle, Amanda Curtin and my own work and study of 33 years.
This group combines Mindfulness-based therapy skills and Resource Development techniques that come both from Trauma Therapy and Contemplative-based Practices. These skills will be learned and practiced in the group, and can be used both individually (internally) and in relationship with others. In addition, I am integrating Group Relational Process and skills based on the latest Adult attachment/ Relational research, and Inner Child dialoguing work.
WHO IS THIS GROUP FOR? This group is designed for people who suffer from childhood trauma: physical, sexual or emotional. This includes both P.T.S.D. and Complex P.T.S.D. The skills taught in this group (Mindfulness, mindful relating and Resource Development (Contemplative-based Practices), will both help a person who is suffering to de-center, or move away from the strong tendency to worry, or ruminate, and to internalize a Somatic (bodily) felt sense of safety. Resource Development in a Mindfulness context will include: Metta (Loving Kindness) for self, Self-Compassion, and Visualization of Loving and Kind Helpful People, Places and Things, through meditative visualization and Somatic Techniques.
The Inner Child dialoguing work helps participants to Re-parent their child parts, and heal their trauma based attachment (relational) styles.
In the course of this 3 month group confidential group, participants will form healthy, healing and supportive connections with other group members. Members will experience safety, validation and support from others who share a common experience of trauma. You will be given the tools and time to practice safe and effective communication skills/ relationship skills both inside and outside of the group.
You will have the opportunity to learn:
- Mindfulness: focused and relaxed Attention.
- Non-judgmental acceptance of yourself.
- Self-Compassion, and other Contemplative-based Resource practices.
- Exposure to and Allowing of difficult emotions, and establish a healing connection to your trauma-based child part.
- The ability to experience safety with yourself and others.

HEALING THE WOUNDED CHILD
A GROUP OF RECOVERY FROM CHILDHOOD TRAUMA
Judith Prebluda is Senior Trauma therapist with 35 years of experience. She is also a Movement therapist, Meditation teacher, and combines her studies in Experiential Therapies, Trauma and Neurological Studies, Meditation with her ongoing love of healing and recovery in her work.

Childhood Trauma is defined as “not good enough” parenting: from
- Overt (or Big T trauma) such as: Physical and Sexual abuse, to
- Covert (relational and developmental) such as: all kinds of neglect, abandonment, lack of safety, and poor bonding or attachment experiences, which includes invalidations of feelings and your developing sense of self.
These childhood experiences, held in both explicit and implicit memory, continue to run and rule us as adults. Awareness and intention alone do not seem to change this early conditioning. Amanda Curtin, L.I.C.S.W. has developed, over the last 30 years, a concise and in-depth step-by-step group process which allows the deeper and lasting changes and re-conditioning to occur. This model offers concrete tools and exercises, integrated with group process that heals relationally as well as cognitively, emotionally and behaviorally.
GOALS and STAGES of the GROUP
Acknowledging the depths of trauma: Begin to grieve the loss of a healthy childhood.
In the group process members begin to develop supportive, healthy relationships with each other. The first experiential is Trauma Genograms, created by each individual and shared with the group. This is followed by:
- Introduction to Attachment healing- Adult/Child Dialoguing process
- Introduction to the Trauma-Informed Conflict Resolution Process The 1-2-3 process. This process allows triggers in the present to be safely processed, allowing more safe, genuine closeness in the present
Grief and Anger Work:
After the introduction of the 1-2-3 Process and the Attachment healing- Adult/Child Dialoguing process:
- Experiential and relational work is entered into. This work safely releases anger, rage and grief in the supportive witnessing, holding and inter-personal environment of the group.
Belief Work: Along with ongoing Dialoguing, Experiential and Inter-personal work
- , Changing negative core beliefs and Implicit (somatic and procedural) memories to ones that are chosen and developed in the process of this work.
Re-parenting the Wounded Inner Child :
Through this Dialoguing – Attachment healing, Role plays, Psycho-education and group process and support, you will develop a Healthy Adult to re-parent the Traumatized child within, and interact in the present world. For more information, referrals or to schedule an interview, please call:
